Wrestling lost a true icon today when Capt Lou Albano passed away at the age of 76. Lou was one of the best wrestling managers of all time in my opinion. When I first started to watch wrestling in 1983 he was up in the WWF with the Grand Wizard and Freddie Blassie. To me the Capt. stuck out the most. He was by far one of the most entertaining characters inside and outside of the ring.
Capt. Lou will always be remembered by me because he was involved in the main event of my very first live pro wrestling show at the Spectrum on Thanksgiving night in 1983. It was Capt Lou Albano and Ray Stevens teaming up against Jimmy Snuka and Buddy Rogers. I can still remember the crowd heat because everyone wanted to see Lou get his ass kicked. He was that good of a heel and he made Jimmy Snuka one of the biggest babyfaces of all time in the WWF. I just watched the Buddy Rogers corner with the turn today and it was still gold and better than most of the wrestling angles I have watched over the last decade and thats a shoot.
His promos were always some of the best on Saturday morning TV, especially with Don Muraco. I will also never forget about the chair shot heard around the world when he hit Afa with the chair allowing Rocky Johnson and Tony Atlas to become the WWF tag team champions.
Lou also was instrumental in making the entire rock and wrestling connection work, with Roddy Piper, Hulk Hogan and of course Cyndi Lauper. How about all the skits he did on TNT wrestling? He went on to manage Andre the Giant. He was the true manager of champions.
The first time I ever met Lou was at a ECWA show back in the early 90's when I was lucky enough to be in a battle royal for Jim Ketners promotion. I was a huge Albano mark and I remember how friendly he was with everyone in the locker room.
In 2002 RF VIDEO conducted a shoot interview with Lou. He came to our office on a Saturday afternoon and I will never forget his shoot for two reasons. He was one of the only guys who did not give us a true shoot as he tried to Kfabe us a lot, and he also refused to sit down. He told me that he was more comfortable standing up which I found to be really funny.
I have done countless interviews with everyone who knew Lou and they all shared the same stories on how he would get so drunk during the TV tapings to get fired and only to get hired one week later. He sounded like one of the most amazing guys to be around if you were in wrestling during that era. I wish I could have known him better, but I still hear in my head his old WWF song from the wrestling album....Capt Lou...Capt Lou Albano!!!
Our condolences goes out to the family of this true legend Lou Albano.
Captain Lou Albano Dies at 76

A private wake will be held at Balsamo-Cordovano Funeral Home in Carmel from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday. A funeral Mass will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. James the Apostle Church in Carmel.

Shoot Interview with D-Lo Brown now on sale!!!
There are some that reach the pinnacle of pro wrestling success the easy way. Then, there are some that take a long road to the top. D Lo Brown is a man who worked his way up from $5 a night to headlining WWE events with The Rock. D Lo finally breaks his silence and tells you a side of the story you won't hear anywhere else. RF Video is proud to present the D Lo Brown Shoot Interview.
D Lo has a very fascinating story and he started from the very beginning. D Lo came up through Jim Cornette's Smokey Mountain Wrestling. D Lo has some great stories about working with vets like the Rock and Roll Express and Tracy Smothers. D Lo talks in detail about what Jim Cornette has meant to his career. How did Jim Cornette mold D Lo from a New Jersey indy worker into a wrestler ready for the biggest show in the world? D Lo retraces his steps and tells you what it took to make the leap from SMW to the WWE.
Over ten years ago, RF Video sat down with one of D Lo's old SMW partners. RF Video talked to New Jack in a classic Shoot Interview back in 1997. New Jack was unkind to his old partner and told many disparaging stories about D Lo in the shoot. Did D Lo Brown really mow Jim Cornette?s lawn? What did D Lo think when he heard New Jack's Shoot Interview? Have they talked since? D Lo finally gives his side of the story to RF Video.
D Lo goes into great length about his time in the WWE. D Lo talks about the integration into the locker room. D Lo talks about the early days of the Nation. How did he get along with Ron Simmons? How did the Nation change with The Rock? What was The Rock like at the stage in his career? Did D Lo have any hesitations about the racial aspects of the group? Why did the group work and not work in the end? Which member of the Nation did D Lo get into an argument with that turned physical? This is a great story and you will only hear it here in the interview.
D Lo was one of the original tag team partners of The Rock. D Lo was there when The Rock came up with the Peoples Elbow and went from opening card wrestler to world-wide sensation. D Lo talks about the ascension of The Rock from someone who was there. D Lo has a ton of great road stories about The Rock that you have never heard before. Hear about a side of The Rock for the first time anywhere in this classic RF Video Shoot Interview.
D Lo also breaks down all of the other personalities in this interview. D Lo talks about the rise of Stone Cold Steve Austin. D Lo also has some very candid comments about Triple H. D Lo also talks about the backstage drama between Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart he witnessed first-hand when he came into the WWE. What did D Lo see and what should we believe?
D Lo also talks about the many controversies involving WWE stars. D Lo talks openly about Chris Benoit, the murders, and the Benoit he knew. D Lo also tal ks about the night Owen Hart passed away. Should the show have gone on? What did he think about after the Montreal Screw Job? Hear what really went down from someone that was there to see it all on the WWE side of the line.
D Lo also opens up about one of pro wrestling?s worst in ring accidents. D Lo relives the night that Darren Drozdov became paralyzed in a match. D Lo talks about what went wrong, what he was thinking, his initial reaction, the guilt, and questions about his own career. D Lo also talks about the relationship between Droz and he and where things stand today. This is a very emotional moment for D Lo and one of the few places you will hear the real story.
D Lo also talks about why he left the WWE, returned, and left again. What were the differences between both of his runs? Who does and doesn?t he trust? Would he ever go back? D Lo also talks about his TNA Wrestling run. What does D Lo think of the TNA political structure? What are D Lo?s thoughts on Vince Russo? Can Dixie Carter run a successful pro wrestling company? Will he be back? W hat are the inner differences between TNA and the WWE?
It is truly an honor to present one of the most interesting Shoot Interviews in RF Video history. It is one thing to read about pro wrestling history. It is another thing to hear about it from a man that witnessed some of the biggest events in WWE history. You better recognize as RF Video presents our newest Shoot Interview with D Lo Bown.

Coming soon to RF VIDEO====Shoot Interview with Lance Storm 2009=======
RF Video recently had a golden opportunity to sit down with one of pro wrestling?s most outspoken personalities. He has wrestled all over the world and held titles in ECW, WCW, and the WWE. Most recently he is known for his opinions and speaking his mind on the current state of the business. It is with great excitement that RF Video presents a brand new Shoot Interview with Lance Storm.
We pick up with Lance where we last left off, ECW. Lance talks about the week Mike Awesome left for WCW as champion. How did it affect Lance?s future jump to WCW? How did Paul Heyman react and what did he tell the talent? What was it like the night a WWE wrestler wrestled a WCW wrestler for the ECW title? Lance relives the crazy week with some great stories to boot.
Lance goes in depth about his jump to WCW. Who contacted him? What were contract negotiations like? What perks did or didn?t Lance get? Lance also talks about Paul Heyman?s reaction and how something Paul did made the jump possible. Lance also has a tremendous story about his first creative meeting with Eric Bischoff and Vince Russo. Wait until you hear the “brilliant” idea that Russo had for Lance and what the reaction of Bischoff was.
Lance has been known lately for his criticism of Vince Russo on his website commentaries. Lance talks extensively about why he can?t stand Vince Russo. Lance has some classic Russo stories from WCW. Find out what Russo originally wanted to call Team Canada. Did Vince Russo screw Booker T when he went over for the WCW world title? Lance has a very revealing story that has never been told before about the night Russo went over for the title. You will understand Lance?s frustrations with Russo a lot more after seeing this Shoot Interview.
Lance also reflects back on the many personalities he worked with in WCW. Lance recalls a story about Lex Luger going to the top rope which is hilarious. Lance also talks about the first time he met Scott Steiner and the rib Steiner pulled on him. Lance talks more about one WCW star and how ironic it was that this star didn?t say two words to him in WCW, yet was overly friendly in the WWE. Lance also has great stories on Kevin Nash, Ric Flair, DDP, Bret Hart, Hulk Hogan, and Goldberg. None of these stories have ever been told until now.
Lance does a great job recounting the last days of WCW. You won?t believe how Lance actually found out about the WWE sale. Lance tells a very funny story about meeting Shane McMahon the first time at Nitro. Lance also talks about why he felt secure about getting a WWE deal. Ironically, Lance also talks about his contract situation almost cost him a WWE deal. Lance also reveals his original bookings plans for that night which were changed. Get a glimpse into one of pro wrestling?s most historic nights from someone that was right there.
Lance talks in great detail about his transition into the WWE. Why was Lance?s transition easier than most of the ex-WCW guys? What was the original plan for the WCW guys at WrestleMania 17 and why was it changed? What did Lance think of being the first WCW guy to start the invasion? How much thought went into Lance?s debut? What was the reaction of the crowd? How much pressure did he fell?
Lance talks quite a bit about the Invasion angle. Who did he like working with from the WWE side? What did he feel was the hottest moment of the angle? Conversely, when did Lance feel the air was let out of the balloon? What were some things he would have done differently? Lance reveals for the first time the alternative match to Buff Bagwell vs. Booker T on RAW and how it impacted him. Speaking of Buff, Lance has some hilarious Buff stories about his short run in the WWE. Some you have heard, and some you will hear for the first time. Find out who surprised Lance the most about their involvement in the angle and how he compared it to his days in WCW.
Lance also talks about all of his feuds and matches in the WWE. Was it more frustrating for Lance to be kept off WrestleMania 18 or WrestleMania 19 and why? Lance gives a great example of the difference in the pressures of being a top guy in the WWE as compared to his days in WCW as a high mid-level wrestler. Lance recalls standing by as Chris Jericho and Goldberg got into a scuffle in the locker room. Lance also has some great stories about his run against Hulk Hogan and Edge. How did something Hulk say to Vince McMahon almost get Lance heat? Lance also a great story about a time where Vince put him on the spot and made him nervous for one of the first times in his career. Lance also thoughts and stories on Triple H, Randy Orton, John Cena, Kurt Angle, JBL, Chris Benoit, Chris Jericho, Brock Lesnar, and more.
Lance also jokes about his many retirements and what brought him out of retirement each time. Which match did he truly think was his last and why? Lance also talks some of his more controversial commentaries and reactions he has received to them. Lance is proudly a drug-free athlete, but there was a time when Lance considered using steroids. When was it and what happened to change his mind? In addition to his own career, Lance weighs in on the current wrestling scene including Bret Hart possibly returning to the WWE, the current state of TNA, and more.
Words can?t do this interview justice. There is no such thing as a one word answer from Lance Storm. Every answer is a story or a long thought-out opinion. RF Video will tell you with great confidence that this is one of the most enjoyable and informative Shoot Interviews we have conducted. It is with great honor that we open up the door once again into the great career and mind of Lance Storm.

WWE officials are said to be down on WWE Diva Mickie James presently. According to reports, the main focus with Mickie right now are her weight gain and work rate in the ring. While there's no doubt Mickie James is an attractive lady and in good shape, she is held to a high standard as a WWE Diva. She has put on some weight, most visibly in her abs/lower body, which hasn't gone unnoticed.
In addition to that, the feeling is the quality of her matches has been slipping as of late as well. Apparently she isn't seen as the "e;reliable hand"e; that she once was.
-- There is talk that Mickie James has been frustrated with her position in World Wrestling Entertainment. Though specific details were not specified, it's being said that she has been unhappy the past few months.
- Mick Foley was the subject of some criticism following the TNA iMPACT TV tapings last week in Orlando as Foley was reportedly lobbying to change the finish of the iMPACT main event that aired last Thursday on Spike TV.
The original finish was for Foley to take the pin in a tag match teaming with Kurt Angle against Matt Morgan and Abyss. Foley was able to successfully change the finish where he would call for Dr. Stevie and Daffney to replace him and Angle mid-match. The company went with this finish at the Monday night taping, but it was said to have bombed badly in front of the live crowd.
TNA officials made a decsion to reshoot the match at the Tuesday night taping using the original finish with Foley taking the pinfall from Matt Morgan, which is the version that ended up airing on TV. As reported on earlier, there was also an issue with Booker T at the same tapings in also taking a pinfall loss to Morgan, but Booker was said to have caused more issues. Were told Foley didn't make a big deal about the reshoot on Tuesday, although one TNA source felt Foley was trying to avoid taking the pinfall adding, "e;He's crafty. He knows how to hide behind that nice guy image."e;
Former WWE Superstar Rob Van Dam commented on rumors of him appearing at the TNA "e;Bound For Glory"e; PPV this weekend during an interview on the Between The Ropes radio show last night.
"e;Well, I certainly don't have any plans of bringing my wrestling boots,"e; the former WWE champion stated. "e;But Sonya (RVD's wife) has been talking to Sharmell and I plan on seeing Booker T while he is here."e;
The following is an excerpt from WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross's blog on the WWE Universe website:
This has been a unique week for me. Most importantly, my Pittsburgh native, Italian wife, Jan and I celebrated our 16th wedding anniversary on Monday. Yes, indeed, I out punted my coverage when we married on October 12, 1993 in Las Vegas. Three months later on Super Bowl Sunday 1994 I suffered my first bout of Bells palsy and a couple weeks after that I was moving from Connecticut back to Atlanta.
My bride never waivered and remained supportive of me and my passion for the biz that I've now been associated with for over 35 years.
Yes, indeed, I'm one lucky Okie.
So, this week I asked for my first day off a TV taping in 16 years with WWE to celebrate our anniversary. I enjoyed being at home and doing husband stuff and not having to board an airplane even though I would have loved to have visited Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky again.
Raw's "e;vintage"e; announcer, Michael Cole, will join soon to be married Todd Grisham (Todd gets hitched this Saturday) this week on Friday Night Smackdown. Thanks, Michael, for helping out. I'm anxious to watch the show Friday night on the omnipresent MyNetworkTV and see how Grish and Cole mesh.
Plus, I hear that Smackdown is an interesting show that determines the SD team that will face the Raw team in the 7 on 7 tag bout at "e;Bragging Rights"e; one week from this Sunday night in Pittsburgh's Mellon Arena.
Call me cynical but I might suggest that if one is making a friendly wager to take the Raw "e;Magnificent Seven"e; and lay the points. No team with DX leading it is likely to lose at a PPV inside the boundaries of the United States.
But, then again, I could be wrong.
--Lou Albano, who passed away at the age of 76 earlier today, was one of the major figures in the popularity of the WWWF from 1971-83. People may remember him from the Cyndi Lauper videos and Super Mario television show, but he was the key manager in the promotion and was very often as important as anyone in some of the big crowds the company drew.
During the period after Bruno Sammartino stopped being a regular, there are people within the organization who felt the heat Albano brought as manger of the top heels was the biggest factor in drawing crowds during the Bob Backlund run. Albano generally was put with the nutty types of contenders, and almost always with the tag team champions.
He would dress like his proteges to a degree, and eventually became known for the rubber bands all over his face. He was a major part of the wheel of success for Vince McMahon Sr., far more important than anyone who didn't closely follow the promotion would be able to understand. Albano was the key component in making Jimmy Snuka into the hottest wrestler in that part of the country when the two split up and Snuka went babyface.
He and Roddy Piper were also the keys in the Wendi Richter/Cyndi Lauper/Fabulous Moolah angle in 1984 that garnered WWWF more mainstream publicity on a national basis than wrestling had gotten since its days on network television, building to the original WrestleMania. When Albano turned babyface, including a run managing the British Bulldogs, he was in a role that had little legs, and there was internal bitterness as he left the company and concentrated on acting. Later, he was often embarrassing playing the role of the crazy, stereotypical representative of wrestling in news piece on the sport. He was not the first person to use the phrase, often imitated, never duplicated, in wrestling, but in the Northeast, he will long be remembered for it.
--Lou Albano was the No. 2 searched for topic today on Google (behind Rachel Glandorf, the girlfriend of Colt McCoy who is a TV reporter for Ch. 42 in Austin, TX)
--Every major media outlet is doing Albano stories. The stories picked up in most places list Albano was being with the WWE from 1983-1996, which aren't exactly the most accurate of years. The version in most places is at
