The Savio Vega Story

Savio Vega gives a great interview that is informative and revealing! He talks about getting started in his native Puerto Rico and becoming a huge Caribbean star. He made his debut for Carlos Colon's WWC promotion and became the character TNT and had big feuds with both Carlos Colon and Abdullah The Butcher, both of whom he has great respect for! He also spent some time in Mexico and Mid-South Wrestling. It was in PR that he met Bruiser Brody and Brody took him to Japan, which he enjoyed, and gave him valuable advice to advance his career. Savio talks about the night Bruiser Brody was killed in the dressing room during a wrestling event in PR. He also confirms the rumors that several American wrestlers were warned to change their stories and not to testify against Jose Gonzalez, the man who stabbed Brody. Savio says he was told to change his story but refused! He eventually came to the WWF, first as the masked ninja "Kwang", and later as Savio Vega, both characters he liked. He enjoyed the Vega character as he was marketed towards kids with the idea of trying to help keep them out of trouble. He was paired with Scott Hall and they were pushed as a tag team and were supposed to become Tag Team Champions, but Hall nixed the idea. Savio holds nothing back when he talks about his problems outside the ring with Hall! Savio talks about being part of the group "BSK", who's meaning is still a mystery! That group included Undertaker, Yokozuna, Kama, The Godwinns and Rikishi! He talks about the politics behind the scenes in the WWF at that time and the problems they had with the Kliq! Savio had a great run in WWF and had great feuds with Goldust, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Ahmed Johnson, Jeff Jarrett, Mabel, JBL, Crush and Ron Simmons. He turned heel, which I thought was a mistake and joined the Nation and later formed Los Boricuas which he enjoyed! He left the company due to injury after Brawl For All. Savio talks about wrestlers dying young in recent years. Great interview!
